General Motors has announced two new recalls.

The larger of the two recalls affects around 96,000 units of the 2006-2010 Hummer H3 and 2009-2010 Hummer H3T. A connector module in charge of the blower motor speed in the HVAC system can overheat after long periods of operation, causing the plastic around the module to melt, increasing the chances of a fire.

GM says it knows of three burns that occurred as result of this problem. Dealers will replace the appropriate parts in and around the connector and harness to prevent overheating.

In a second recall, GM is recalling about 50,700 units of the 2014-2015 Chevy Spark and 2015 Sonic for a glitch in the infotainment unit. In cars with base stereo units equipped with OnStar, the turn-by-turn directions mode can become stuck, causing the display to go blank and ceasing all audio functions, including chimes related to the key being left in ignition and wearing a seatbelt.

GM says the radio may turn off altogether, leaving the battery to drain which means the vehicle won’t be able to start.

Dealers will reflash the infotainment software to prevent this issue.
